Introduction
Tranquillity and warm hospitality are the essence of Mornington, home to the O'Hara's since 1858. Set in an unexplored corner of Westmeath, with its charming landscape of rolling hills, ancient forests and sparkling lakes, Mornington is truly part of the real hidden Ireland, away from the tourist hordes, yet just 60 miles from Dublin.
There has been a house at Mornington since the early 17th century but this was considerably enlarged in 1896. It is now a gracious family home with a reputation for delicious meals prepared in the fine tradition of the Irish Country House. Anne is a member of Euro-toques, the international fraternity of serious chefs and Warwick's breakfasts are renowned.
Excellent golf, fishing, and riding can be arranged. The Neolithic passage tombs at Newgrange and Loughcrew and the early Christian sites at Fore and Clonmacnoise are all within easy reach, as are the gardens at Belvedere, Ballinlough, Tullynally and Loughcrew and Lakeview.
